Grandma Sabin's Archives: Photo 47

IDENTIFIED: Rosa Swezey. Transcription on back reads: Rosa Swezey, 1871, Marengo, 6 years old, take in 71 fall." It's unclear who Rosa Swezey belonged to exactly. In 1885 she was living in Marengo with Oliver and Maria (Sabin) Swezey. I think she may have been one of their grandchildren. More research is needed.

UPDATE: Rosa or Rosalie Swezey was the daughter of Oliver and Maria (Sabin) Swezey. Her obituary reads as follows:

The Marengo Republican March 18, 1891

Miss Rose M. Swezey, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. O. H. Swezey of this place died at Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, on Sunday, aged 25 years, 3 months and 8 days.  Her remains were brought home and the funeral services were held at the residence of her parents this afternoon at two o'clock.
